WINSTON-SALEM – N.C. Department of Transportation contractors will implement an up and over traffic pattern along eastbound Business 40 at Peters Creek Parkway as preliminary work for the Business 40 Improvement Project continues in Winston-Salem.
"Contractors will be working on the center bridge support for the new Peters Creek Parkway bridge over Business 40 and need to close the highway at that location for safety while work is underway," said Division 9 Resident Engineer Mezak Tucker.
Drivers heading eastbound on Business 40 will be shifted into a single lane from 9 p.m. until midnight. From midnight until 6 a.m., contractors will close both lanes on eastbound Business 40 and all traffic will be directed to exit onto the Peters Creek Parkway ramp. Drivers will then cross Peters Creek Parkway back onto Business 40.
This traffic pattern will be in place nightly starting Tuesday, Oct. 31, and will last until mid-December, except during holiday work restrictions.
